Undeniably, the role of education in transforming the lives of people is crucially important. Our current literacy rate is 56 percent which means that half of our country is illiterate. An estimated 22 million children — majority of them girls — are not going to school. WAVE believes that every child deserves to be better educated, nourished, and groomed.
WAVE Organization in accordance with its resources is contributing to the future of young students. We provide shelter for the students especially girls to study in a comfortable environment and maximize the attendance of students and teachers. Our objective was to ensure that children especially girls get another chance to complete their education. The children who didn't go to school after the earthquake due to demolished school buildings again joined their schools to achieve the aims of their lives.

We have rebuilt two high schools in AJK and handed them over to the Government Education Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

What We Offer
Our Schools

Government Girls High School Mustimba
Muzaffarabad, AJK
Girls High School Mustimba was completed in 2018, funded by WAVE Australia and constructed by CDRS. It is the only girl's school in a 15km radius.
The school was established in 1982 but unfortunately was destroyed by the 1992 flood. The girls would sit on the bare and cold ground. Lack of adequate educational facilities is the primary reason why most girls would drop out from high schools, despite AJK having one of the best enrolment rates at the primary school level. In remote areas of Azad Kashmir, most schools have no buildings — students sit under an open sky, during rains, snow, and harsh weather which affects them badly.
The young girls of High School Mustimba now have a roof over their heads and chairs to sit on for their noble aim of education. They have a bright future ahead of them.

Government Higher Secondary School Kassiyan Halal
Kassiyan, Muzaffarabad, AJK
Kassiyan Halal, a village near Muzaffarabad, has a population of about 5,000. In the winter, heavy snowfall cuts off the village from the main city and the isolated community further presents an image of a desolate landscape. Consequently, children are locked up inside their houses. Students are left with two choices: either be forced to sit on the cold and wet floor of schools or skip classes.
The area falls among those with the highest primary school enrollment in Pakistan. Yet most schools are yet to be rebuilt even after 14 years since the unfortunate earthquake of 2005.
This is the only Science Higher Secondary School in the entire area of two union councils comprising approximately 80,000 individuals. It is a coeducational institute with over 65% female students.
We have maintained the entire standard essential by ERA and used quality material appropriate for both hot and summer seasons — at a cost of 1.34 million. It has benefited 300 students.
We also arranged furniture and fixtures for the students and teachers to improve their educational engagement. We handed over the school building to the Education Department, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and established a local management committee responsible for looking after the school building.
